in Advent 2012

As a young man, Daniel was known for his ability to read hearts and to know what was true. He was also given the gift to interpret dreams.  He came to the notice of the King when he refused to eat food which had been sacrificed to idols.  He was thrown into a firey furnace where he was joined by an angel and was unharmed by the flames. The King rescued him and he became one of the Kings advisors, telling him the scarey truth of his dreams which foretold the destruction of his kingdom.

Gracious God, you have often spoken to your people through their dreams. Help me to pay attention to my dreams in order to hear your voice if you choose to speak to me in this way.  Help me also to be aware of other ways that you speak to me– through those who preach your word, through the people who cross my path, through wise elders in my life, through the events of the world.  Let me respond to the messages you send in a positive way.
