Sister Valerie Sweeney reminds us that this week we begin the season of ADVENT. The word Advent derives from the Latin word meaning COMING. The Lord is coming. It is a time of expectancy and joyful anticipation for the feast of Christmas. During Advent Christians recall the history of God’s people, and reflect on how the prophecies and promises of the Old Testament were fulfilled in Jesus. This gives us a background for the present time. We celebrate God’s coming in every moment, trusting that God is always there for us, even when we have to wait for God’s presence to be realized.

Practice:

  • Waiting in line at the supermarket or cafeteria can remind me to wait patiently and mindfully for God’s coming in each moment of my life.
