As we draw closer to the feast of Christmas, I’d like to share this original reflection written by Christine, a resident at Jennings. Chris gives us much to think and pray about.
About Your Birth
We thought you’d come as conquering king—
at least as an awesome general,
or some such overwhelming thing.
Today many look to you that way,
despite all you did and all you say.
We still launch ships and missiles in your name,
destroying impoverished people, to our shame.
Teach us once again, O Babe of Bethlehem.
Bring us to our knees in your stable straw.
Let us gaze at you again in heartfelt awe.
O Jesu, Prince of Peace for all the earth—
Let us finally learn the meaning of your lowly birth.
